  • In about 1960 A group went to Atlanta, GA to record their first LP album. They were known as the "Harmony Trio" but decided to change their name to the "Celestials," notice the "C" instead of "T," well the printers didn't. And when the albums came back, all one thousand of them, a printing error had changed the name to the Telestials. I am sure they could have sent them back but, they didn't. And now you know where the name came from. A song on the Telestials "Words of Hope" Album tells all about it and is performed by a third generation Telestial, Caleb Brown. Below are the lyrics.

A Telestial

Some people won’t even try to pronounce it, cause they mumble and they stutter when they try to announce it, They just say, here they are from Nashville, Tennessee

There’s a cute little story how it all came about, it’s on the World Wide Web you can go check it out

But let me tell you what being a Telestial really means to me.

We’re blood bought sons and daughters of the living Lord

We’re singing his songs of love from shore to shore

We’re praying he’ll lead us, believing he’ll feed us, he never let us down before

A Telestial is an earthly traveler for the Heavenly Savior

Dad makes the bus go, and mom gets the clothes Ma Beth does the books and pappy charts the road,

Me and Matt do this and that, and we all make the music ring

Yeah, I was just a baby when I first hit the road; guess I came in mighty handy when it came time to load,

But I’m older now and it’s finally my turn to sing

We’re blood bought sons and daughters of the living Lord

We’re singing his songs of love from shore to shore

We’re praying he’ll lead us, believing he’ll feed us, he never let us down before

A Telestial is an earthly traveler for the Heavenly Savior
